Giving to those in need

Some of you might know that Derek and I do most of our day-to-day work under the company name Lambda Curry (https://lambdacurry.dev) . Derek started this company in 2019, and I joined him in early 2020. We have since grown and wanted to do something to give back in a big way. We’d love to have others join in and give with us. Learn more in our letter below:

Friends of Lambda Curry,

As a company striving to do good for people first, we are working with Mobile Loaves & Fishes with their Community First! Village to make a difference in the Austin homeless community. As you might have seen first-hand, Austin’s homeless population has been growing. Mobile Loaves & Fishes is doing great work with the homeless people here in Austin and we believe in their mission and their ability to serve that community.

Mobile Loaves & Fishes has helped us create a 1:1 Matching Giving campaign with a goal of $25,000, which is the amount required to build a new home in the Community First! Village.

We would like to invite you to join us in giving to help leave a lasting impact on someone’s life by providing a permanent home for them.

Please consider a monthly donation and feel free to share this link with others so we can meet our goal: https://give.mlf.org/lambdacurry

Thanks for your part in our journey as we continue to build Lambda Curry and work towards even bigger initiatives in the future.

Sincerely,

Jake & Derek

In the fall of 2016, I had a last-minute opportunity to go on a work conference trip to San Francisco! It was legit, a 3 day software conference at Twitter’s headquarters, where I got to nerd out with fellow software engineers from all over the world, all expenses paid! Or at least, it should have been all expenses paid… After coming back from the trip, I filed a quick reimbursement claim to my employer and forgot about it. Over a year later, when I needed to file another reimbursement claim, I
